RCB and Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli made it a common habit to shattering new records in the course of match number 28 of the IPL 2025 against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium at Jaipur. Kohli scored an excellent fifty from 39 deliveries while batting on the second-innings position during the match. He achieved his 100th T20 half-century. Kohli is just the second batsman since Australian batsman David Warner (108 half-centuries) to surpass the three-digit mark of T20 fifties, and the first one to do it from India.

All-Time T20 Half-Century Leaders

As of April 2025, the list for most half-centuries in T20 cricket is headed by David Warner, who has achieved 108 fifties in 398 innings. Trailing closely is Virat Kohli, with 99 half-centuries to his name in 386 innings. Babar Azam is at the third position with 90 half-centuries in 299 innings.

Chris Gayle, whose game is considered explosive, has scored 88 half-centuries in 455 innings, whereas Jos Buttler has 86 half-centuries in 413 innings. Other prominent players are Alex Hales with 85 fifty-fifty in 490 innings, Shoaib Malik with 83 in 514 innings, Faf du Plessis with 79 in 386 innings, Rohit Sharma with 78 in 439 innings, and Aaron Finch with 77 in 380 innings.

Virat Kohli Equals Warner in IPL 50-Plus Scores

Kohli’s half-century against RR in Jaipur was his 58th IPL fifty, which means it was his 66th 50-plus total in the IPL, as he also has eight centuries to his name. He is now equal to David Warner in this record, who also has 66 fifty-plus scores in the IPL, with the help of four centuries and 62 half-centuries.

Batsmen With Most 50-Plus Scores in the IPL

In the IPL history, David Warner and Virat Kohli are together at the top of the list for most 50-plus innings, both having compiled 66 such innings. Warner, who played from 2009 to 2024, did it in 184 matches, accumulating 6565 runs with 4 centuries and 62 half-centuries.

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, has played from 2008 to 2025 and made 8240 runs in 250 innings with 8 centuries and 58 half-centuries. Shikhar Dhawan has 53 fifty-plus scores in 221 innings from 2008 to 2024, having scored 6769 runs with 2 centuries and 51 fifties.

Rohit Sharma, another old-timer of the IPL, has 45 half-centuries from 256 innings in the period from 2008 to 2025, with 6666 runs and 2 centuries and 43 half-centuries. Both KL Rahul and AB de Villiers have 43 fifty-plus performances, where Rahul has played 126 innings for 4868 runs since 2013, with 4 centuries and 39 half-centuries, while AB de Villiers during his career period between 2008 and 2021, for 5162 runs he achieved 3 centuries and 40 half-centuries in 170 innings.

Suresh Raina, the pillar of the Chennai Super Kings, registered 40 fifty-plus scores from 2008 to 2021, aggregating 5528 runs with 1 century and 39 fifties. Faf du Plessis, even active in 2025, has 38 fifty-plus scores in 141 innings, scoring 4652 runs.

Chris Gayle, the ‘Universe Boss’, scored 37 fifty-plus scores with 6 centuries in 141 innings between 2009 and 2021, amassing 4965 runs. Finally, Gautam Gambhir, who was a player between 2008 and 2018, scored 36 half-century plus scores out of 152 innings with 4217 runs without any century but with consistent brilliance.
