India-Pakistan tensions have risen after the Pahalgam terror attack, which was fatal, with Pakistan issuing a fresh naval warning in the Arabian Sea, presumably in reaction to possible Indian naval operations.
Pakistan recently announced a no-fly zone over the Arabian Sea and sent live-fire alerts to vessels, calling on them to remain out of the area. These moves look to be precautionary moves, possibly to test a new missile. Pakistan’s heightened maritime alerts are grounded on fears regarding the Indian naval exercises in the region.
India’s Successful Naval Test
In the meantime, the Indian warship INS Surat destroyed a fast, low-flying target over the Arabian Sea using the Medium-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (MRSAM), showcasing the technological capabilities of India. The test came several hours after Pakistan issued its naval warning, as tensions between the two countries heighten.

The Pahalgam Attack
The terror bombing of the Baisaran meadow, which is a popular tourist spot in Kashmir, has claimed the lives of at least 26 people, one of the deadliest terror bombings in the nation since the Pulwama bombing in 2019. In retaliation, India took actions against Pakistan, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the Integrated Check Post at Attari, and reducing diplomatic presence.
Pakistan Responds to India
Pakistan termed India’s move to put the Indus Waters Treaty on hold as an “act of war.” Pakistan also threatened that it could put the 1972 Simla Agreement, which regulates the Line of Control (LoC), on hold.
