Assam CM meets EU Ambassador to discuss key collaborations

Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma met with the European Union Ambassador to India, Hervé Delphin, at the latter’s official residence, on Wednesday. During their interaction, Dr. Sarma conveyed his sincere gratitude to Ambassador Delphin and, through him, to the Heads of Mission of EU member countries for their invaluable support in the successful organization of the recently concluded Advantage Assam Summit 2.0 in Guwahati. During this meet Chief Minister welcomed the initiatives and assured EU Ambassador that the Assam Government would extend its full cooperation in facilitating the office’s establishment, working in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

The discussion between the Chief Minister and the EU Ambassador was both insightful and productive, focusing on potential collaborations in various key sectors such as clean energy, semiconductors, higher education, skill development, and the aromatics and fragrances industry. Ambassador Delphin apprised Dr. Sarma that the European Union is currently considering the establishment of an EU Programme Management Office in Guwahati. In response, the Chief Minister warmly welcomed this initiative and assured that the Assam Government would extend its full cooperation in facilitating the office’s establishment, working in coordination with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.

Later, Chief Minister Dr. Sarma took to the micro-blogging platform X (formerly Twitter) to express his appreciation. In his post, he wrote, “Today in New Delhi, I extended my heartfelt gratitude to EU AmbIndia H.E. Hervé Delphin and, through him, to the other Heads of Mission of EU member nations for their valuable support at Advantage Assam 2.0. Had an engaging discussion on potential collaborations in clean energy, semiconductors, higher education, skill development, and the aromatics and fragrances sector. Encouraged to learn that the EU is exploring the idea of setting up a Programme Management Office in Guwahati. Assam will provide complete support to this initiative under the guidance of the MEA, GoI.
