Meta has recently introduced its virtual assistant, Meta AI, in India. Now fully rolled out, Meta AI is available for free across Meta’s apps—WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger. This rollout signals that these apps will leverage Meta AI to enhance user experience. WhatsApp, the popular messaging app, is among the first to explore Meta AI’s capabilities. According to a recent report, WhatsApp is working on a feature that allows Meta AI to respond to and edit photos. Previously, the platform was developing an optional feature to generate user images using Meta AI.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new chat button to let users manually share photos with Meta AI, which is set to be released in a future update. This new feature will enable users to ask questions about their photos, such as identifying objects or providing context. Meta AI will also offer the ability to edit photos directly within the chat by sharing a prompt. Notably, users will retain complete control over their photos, with the option to delete them at any time.
This feature will help users gain insights about their images by asking Meta AI. Additionally, it will eliminate the need to use a separate app for image editing. This integration will streamline the user experience, allowing quick edits and adjustments to photos directly within the app, thus simplifying the process and enhancing efficiency. While still under development, this feature is expected to be released soon.
The upcoming feature will enable users to create a set of photos with the help of Meta AI. Users need to take setup photos that Meta AI will analyze to generate images that accurately represent their appearance.
To generate an image, users can type “Imagine me” in the Meta AI chat. Additionally, this feature can be used in other chats by typing “@Meta AI imagine me”. Importantly, Meta AI cannot read other messages, as the command is processed separately, and the generated image will be automatically shared in the conversation by the app, ensuring user privacy.
Meta is highly committed to privacy, and Meta AI adheres to the same standards. This feature will be optional, requiring users to opt-in. Users will have complete control over this feature, as they can delete their setup photos at any time through the Meta AI settings.
