Meta, the parent company of Facebook, is currently conducting trials for an AI chatbot, potentially named Meta AI. This chatbot is undergoing testing with a select group of users in India across Meta’s range of platforms, including Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
Within Instagram, Meta AI is reachable through a direct messaging (DM) function. Users can initiate interaction with the chatbot by tapping on the Meta AI icon located in the search bar, enabling one-on-one communication.
Much like other prevalent AI assistants such as Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Meta AI serves as a versatile assistant, furnishing responses to various inquiries and offering real-time information.
The assistant is equipped with the capability to produce both text and images, enabling the summarization of lengthy pieces of text. This functionality will prove invaluable for writing tasks such as editing, proofreading, translating text across languages, and even crafting poems and stories.
Additionally, users will have the convenience of summoning the assistant directly within ongoing personal and group chats on Instagram. This feature allows users to seek advice, receive suggestions, or pose questions, enhancing the overall user experience.
Reports indicate that Meta has expanded its testing of the chatbot to WhatsApp. This development came to light when certain users shared screenshots of interactions with the chatbot on the platform.
A Meta spokesperson has verified that the development of generative AI-powered experiences is progressing through different stages and is currently undergoing limited public testing.
