On Monday, CSK got back on track with their IPL 2025 campaign with a dominant five-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Match 30 at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Cricket Stadium. In the match, LSG had made 166 in 20 overs. CSK chased a difficult total of 167 on a sluggish surface.
The pursuit started with a surprise switch. Shaik Rasheed debuted in the IPL and opened with Rachin Ravindra instead of the out-of-form Devon Conway. Rasheed had an instant impact with 27 off 19, featuring assertive strokes including a stylish flick and a big pull. Together with Rachin Ravindra, who hit 37 off 22, the duo contributed 50 in 4.2 overs. That dashing start turned the balance in CSK’s favor.
Background and Domestic Career of Shaik Rasheed
Shaik Rasheed was born on 24 September 2004 in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, and is a young Indian cricketer who bats in the top-order and right-arm leg spin bowls. At eight years old, he started playing cricket at Dilsukhnagar, Hyderabad, and used to play casual gully matches before playing for the Sportive Cricket Club in the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) League. His passion for cricket never lost its importance due to monetary difficulties, thanks to his father’s constant motivation.
Rasheed’s dawn was in the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup, where he was named as the vice-captain of the Indian team. His performances in the semi-final and final were the key to India’s triumph, reflecting his mental strength and batting skills
For Andhra Pradesh, Rasheed has played domestic cricket, making his first-class debut in February 2022 and T20 debut in October 2022. Until March 2025, he has gained more than 1,200 runs in first-class cricket with two centuries and seven half-centuries to his credit. For T20s, he has achieved 352 runs with an unbeaten century among notable runs.
Rasheed’s regular performances had him included in the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team in the IPL. He represented the CSK franchise from 2023 and debuted in the IPL in 2025 with 27 runs off 19 balls in a game against the Lucknow Super Giants. He was included by CSK in their bid to beef up their batting order.

He is a regular member of the Andhra team. In 19 matches, he has amassed 1204 runs at a batting average of 46.04. In 17 T20 games, he has scored 352 runs at a rate of 29.33 and a strike rate of 127.07. Without Devon Conway in the playing XI, CSK has set their hopes on the youngster.
