Indian cricketer Shreyas Iyer has been awarded the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March 2025. According to the International Cricket Council (ICC), Iyer outperformed New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy and Rachin Ravindra to secure the honour.
Key Role in India’s Champions Trophy Victory
Iyer emerged as India’s highest run-scorer in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which took place in Dubai and Pakistan. He scored a total of 243 runs and played a key role in India’s victorious campaign. His consistency in the middle order helped India manage pressure during crucial phases and build solid partnerships.
This back-to-back recognition marked continued success for Indian players. Shubman Gill had previously won the same award for February 2025, making Iyer’s win part of a winning streak for Team India.
Iyer Reflects on the Honour
Iyer expressed happiness and gratitude after receiving the award. He said the recognition held special meaning because it came during a month when India won the ICC Champions Trophy. “I’m truly honoured to be named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for March. This recognition is incredibly special, especially in a month where we lifted the ICC Champions Trophy — a moment I will cherish forever. Being able to contribute to India’s success on such a big stage is something every cricketer dreams of. I’m grateful to my teammates, coaches, and support staff for their unwavering support and belief,” Iyer said, as quoted by the ICC.
