In a significant development drive aimed at bolstering infrastructure and fostering socio-economic growth, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to address a public rally at the Maulana Azad Stadium in Jammu and Kashmir tomorrow, February 20. This momentous occasion coincides with the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for projects valued at over 30,500 crore across various sectors within the state.
The Prime Minister’s itinerary includes the inauguration of three prestigious Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), with one of them located in Jammu. Additionally, PM Modi will initiate the construction of key infrastructure projects such as the new terminal building of Jammu Airport and a Common User Facility Petroleum depot in Jammu.
The Prime Minister’s Office issued a statement detailing the schedule, highlighting that the projects span diverse sectors including health, education, transportation (rail, road, and aviation), petroleum, and civic infrastructure.
Here is a breakdown of the projects and schemes to be showcased during the Prime Minister’s visit:
AIIMS Jammu: PM Modi will inaugurate the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Vijaypur, Samba. This premier healthcare institution, established under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana, will significantly enhance medical facilities in the region.
Rail Projects: The Prime Minister will ceremoniously flag off the first Electric Train in the valley and launch the train service between Sangaldan station and Baramulla station. Furthermore, significant rail projects to be introduced include a new railway line between Banihal and Sangaldan and the electrification of the Baramulla-Srinagar section, aimed at enhancing connectivity and facilitating efficient transportation solutions.
New Terminal Building of Jammu Airport: PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for the new terminal building of Jammu Airport, equipped with modern facilities to accommodate around 2000 passengers during peak hours, thereby elevating air travel infrastructure in the region.
Road Projects: The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for various road development projects, including the Delhi-Jammu-Katra Expressway, the four-laning of Srinagar Ring Road, and several packages aimed at upgrading the Srinagar-Uri stretch of NH-01, as well as the construction of bypasses in Kulgam and Pulwama.
Common User Facility (CUF) Petroleum Depot: PM Modi will initiate a project worth 677 crore to develop a fully automated CUF Petroleum depot in Jammu, enhancing storage capacity for various petroleum products and bolstering the region’s energy infrastructure.
Distribution of Appointment Letters: As part of the ‘Viksit Bharat Viksit Jammu’ mission, the Prime Minister will distribute appointment orders to approximately 1500 new government recruits from Jammu and Kashmir, underscoring efforts towards job creation and employment enhancement in the region.
Virtual Inauguration of Other Projects: PM Modi will virtually inaugurate a myriad of projects including the highest railway bridge in Reasi district, the Devika river rejuvenation project, the Shahpur Kandi project, and IIM Jammu. Additionally, he will lay the foundation for 124 new projects, including industrial estates, road projects, bridges, and flats for Kashmiri migrants, further cementing the government’s commitment to holistic development in Jammu and Kashmir.
