Mumbai BMW Hit-and Run: Suspect Mihir Shah Made 40 Calls to Girlfriend After Incident

Mihir Shah, the main suspect in the Mumbai BMW hit-and-run case, made 40 calls to his girlfriend after crashing into a woman with his luxury car in Worli on July 7. Following the incident, instead of surrendering to the police, he traveled across different places in Maharashtra and stayed hidden in resorts.

When his girlfriend learned about the accident, she contacted his sister Pooja, who picked him up from Goregaon and took him back to their home in Borivali. From there, Mihir Shah, accompanied by three family members and his friend Avdeep, went to resorts in Thane and Murbad. Later, they moved to Shahapur before eventually ending up at a resort in Virar. It was here that the police located him after tracking Avdeep’s briefly switched-on phone.

Before reaching Virar, Mihir Shah had traveled through Nashik, Igatpuri, Ganeshpuri, and Thane. During his escape, he had hidden his mobile phone, which the police are trying to locate. Police also recovered 12 mobile phones from his friends and family members during the investigation.

Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena leader Rajesh Shah, admitted to driving the BMW during the accident but denied being intoxicated. The collision occurred when his car hit a two-wheeler from behind in Worli, resulting in the death of Kaveri Nakhwa (45) who was riding pillion, while her husband Pradeep survived with injuries. Mihir Shah has been remanded in police custody until July 16.
