President Donald Trump made headlines at Pope Francis’s state funeral, allegedly for violating the Vatican’s strict dress code. His outfit was drastically different from that of most world leaders and dignitaries in attendance at the funeral, donning black attire, when he was in his mid-blue suit, shining blue tie, and an American flag pin.
Dress Code: Black
The Vatican had laid down certain rules for the event. For men, it was prescribed: dark suit, white shirt, long black tie, and black shoes, socks, and accessories. Women were to dress in an all-black dress, black gloves, closed-toe shoes, and a veil, with minimal jewelry.
Whereas First Lady Melania Trump also dressed according to the dress code, donning a conservative black coat, lace veil, gloves, and demure pumps, the attire of her husband was clearly different. President Joe Biden, who sat a few rows behind Trump, was dressed in a blue tie, though his suit was darker. Prince William also dressed according to the dress code in a dark navy suit with a black tie.

Zelensky’s Controversial Attire
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky was also criticized for wearing an all-black, combat-like attire, in line with his war-time look since Russia’s invasion. His attire had also caused controversy earlier during a White House visit when a journalist asked if his dress was disrespectful.
