Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a press conference in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, questioning his track record on fulfilling promises made during the 2014 parliamentary elections.
Kharge highlighted Modi’s failure to deliver on pledges such as depositing Rs 15 lakhs in people’s accounts and doubling farmers’ income. He accused Modi of projecting himself over collective efforts, emphasizing the absence of “I” in political leadership, unlike Modi’s repeated mention of “Modi ki guarantee.”
Kharge also lambasted Modi’s unfulfilled promises on job creation and accused him of fearing “invisible voters” while criticizing the Congress. He criticized the mass exodus of leaders from opposition parties to BJP and questioned Modi’s ability to discern corruption.
Kharge highlighted unemployment and inflation as key issues and expressed confidence in winning 20 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, contrasting Congress’s focus on work over religious divides with Modi’s emphasis on religion. The second phase of voting across 13 states is scheduled for April 26, with results announced on June 4.
