Pahalgam Attack
Terrorists unleashed gunfire on a popular meadow close to Kashmir’s Pahalgam town on Tuesday afternoon.Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said officials are determining the death toll. However, various reports claim the attack killed at least 26 people, most of them tourists.
The attack happened at 3 pm in Baisaran, which is six kilometres from the resort town of Pahalgam.
The Resistance Front (TRF), a shadow outfit of the proscribed Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) terror outfit, has taken responsibility for the attack, PTI reported.
Officials said it was likely that members of the terror group might have crossed over from Kishtwar in Jammu and reached Baisaran via Kokernag in south Kashmir.
