A BJP leader in Madhya Pradesh has taken on the unusual and daring task of attempting to catch a leopard using a mosquito net in Rewa, following the failure of officials to capture the animal.
Shyamlal Dwivedi, a former MLA, decided to confront the leopard unarmed, along with a group of people equipped only with a mosquito net, expressing frustration over the recent animal attacks in the area.
A video circulating online shows Dwivedi and a group of individuals holding the mosquito net as they cautiously approach the fields where the leopard, which had attacked several people, was last sighted.

Dwivedi reported that five individuals had been attacked over the past few days, with two of them critically injured.
“Four of these people are from Madhya Pradesh, and one is from Uttar Pradesh. A buffalo was also attacked by the leopard, injuring it severely. We have pressured the district administration to take steps to catch the leopard and save the people from being attacked,” he said.
The former MLA voiced concerns about residents being unable to leave their homes due to the fear of leopard attacks. He added that he would camp in the area if necessary to ensure the animal is captured.
“I am here to boost the morale of the people. I have spoken to the collector and top police officials about the leopard attacks. I urge them to pressurise the district administration to ensure that such incidents do not happen again,” Dwivedi stated.
In the last three days, police and forest officials have conducted a search operation to locate the leopard but have been unsuccessful, prompting Dwivedi to take this bold step.
