Ayodhya to Host Tent Cities for Devotees During Ram Temple Consecration

Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, is making elaborate preparations for the historic Ram Temple consecration ceremony scheduled for January 22 of next year. The Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust is coordinating the establishment of several tent cities in anticipation of a large influx of devotees.

General Secretary Champat Rai of the Sri Ram Janambhoomi Trust revealed plans to accommodate 10,000–15,000 devotees by setting up a tin-shed city. This city, scheduled for completion by February-end, will offer shelter, food, and water to the throngs of devotees expected for the occasion. Workers from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have been summoned to assist in the construction of these facilities.

The consecration ceremony for Ram Lalla will commence with Vedic rituals led by Vedic priest Lakshmi Kant Dixit from Varanasi a week prior to the main event on January 22. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is slated to attend the inauguration.

Ayodhya will celebrate an Amrit Mahautsav from January 14 to January 22, featuring a 1008 Hundi Mahayagya and a grand ceremony where 4,000 saints from various sects have been invited by the Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Tirath Kshetra Trust.

PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the Ram Temple in August 2020, following the landmark Supreme Court decision on the Ayodhya dispute. Following that, the ‘Shri Ram Janma Bhoomi Tirtha Kshetra’ Trust was formed to oversee the temple’s construction, which has been steadily progressing. The Trust has provided glimpses of the temple’s ongoing floor inlay work and intricate carvings.

As preparations ramp up, Ayodhya prepares to welcome devotees from all over the world, with the goal of making this auspicious occasion of the Ram Temple consecration a memorable and spiritually enriching experience for all.
