Football icon Cristiano Ronaldo is now making a move into the world of films. He has partnered with well-known filmmaker Matthew Vaughn to launch a new film studio called UR•Marv. On Thursday, the 40-year-old athlete announced this surprising venture through a social media post. He called it an “exciting chapter” in his career.

A Superstar Athlete with a Billion-Dollar Legacy

Ronaldo is widely considered one of the best footballers in history. According to Zonal Sports, he has built a fortune worth around $800 million. In 2020, Forbes reported that Ronaldo became the first active athlete in a team sport to earn more than $1 billion in his career. Last year, he was Forbes’ highest-paid athlete in the world, earning $260 million, which is the highest amount ever recorded for a footballer in a single year.

Ronaldo Expands Business into Entertainment

Adding another milestone to his career, the Portuguese captain has now stepped into the movie business. Speaking about the creation of UR•Marv, he said, “This is an exciting chapter for me, as I look ahead to new ventures in business.”

According to his post on X (formerly Twitter), the new studio is independent and plans to blend modern technology with classic filmmaking traditions.

A Unique Partnership Based on Storytelling

Although they come from different professional worlds, Ronaldo and director Matthew Vaughn found common ground in their love for storytelling. The announcement highlighted how “they both love a good story”, which led them to team up.

Their partnership merges the energy of sports with the creativity of cinema. Together, they have already produced two action films, which Ronaldo and Vaughn fully financed and made together. A third movie in the same series is currently in development.

More Films Coming Soon

The duo plans to reveal details about their first release very soon. Vaughn also expressed his admiration for Ronaldo’s career. He said, “Cristiano has created stories on the pitch that I could never have written, and I look forward to creating inspiring movies with him – he’s a real-life superhero.”
