A KLM Royal Dutch Airlines flight en route to Amsterdam from Oslo experienced a hydraulic failure shortly after takeoff, prompting an emergency landing at Sandefjord Airport in Norway on Saturday, December 28.
The Boeing 737-800, carrying 182 people including passengers and crew, was diverted to Sandefjord Airport, located about 110 kilometers south of Oslo, after the failure occurred. Although the plane landed safely, it lost control during the landing rollout and skidded off runway 18, coming to a stop in soft grass near a taxiway.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among those aboard. Passengers were evacuated using mobile stairs as emergency crews responded to the scene. Authorities are currently assisting the passengers and crew.
KLM has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident, but airport operations were briefly disrupted while recovery efforts took place. An investigation into the incident is now underway.
