A new wave of controversy has emerged after a post from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam’s (DMK) NRI Wing circulated on the social media platform X, displaying a map of India that purportedly indicated portions of Jammu & Kashmir were given to Pakistan.

The post triggered a significant backlash online, with users accusing the DMK of being unpatriotic. In response to the uproar, the Tamil Nadu ruling party reportedly deleted the original post. Shortly after, a revised post was shared, featuring the caption, “Tamil Nadu is growing economically as well as education under Dravida model rule!” alongside an accurate map of India.

The controversy escalated when Dr. SG Suryah, the Tamil Nadu BJP State Secretary, criticized the DMK in a pointed post on X. He highlighted that this was not the first occurrence of the party misrepresenting the Indian map, referencing a similar incident in 2020 involving Udhayanidhi Stalin, the son of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin.

“Not the first time #DMK does this. Previously in 2020 #UdhaynithiStalin made the same mistake in a video & after I filed a complaint with then Police Commissioner, he deleted the video where Indian map was misrepresented. No wonder #DMK & DMKTards are fond of Pakistan,” Dr. Suryah wrote, further fueling the ongoing debate.

Outrage has erupted over a post by the DMK NRI Wing that displayed an incorrect map of India, with many users voicing their concerns echoing Dr. Suryah’s remarks about the party’s potential threat to India’s territorial integrity. One user questioned, “Is eradicating Sanatan the first dream, and the second dream eradicating India? Has the DMK already given half of J&K to Pakistan?”

Another commenter suggested, “I am sure the admin of DMK NRI Wing is from Pakistan. Why would anyone else use the wrong map of India?”

This controversial map has intensified an ongoing political debate, with some linking it to Udhayanidhi Stalin’s previous remarks regarding Sanatana Dharma. A known critic of the ancient tradition, Udhayanidhi had stated that it needed to be “eradicated.” Social media users are now speculating whether this alleged “eradication” of Sanatana Dharma is a precursor to more concerning plans to divide the nation.

“DMK reciprocates the feelings of the INDI alliance; they want Punjab to be with Khalistanis, part of J&K with Pakistan, part with China, Arunachal with China, and some parts of Assam with Bangladesh. INDI alliance is a big threat to national unity,” one user commented.

Another furious response stated, “Shame on you MK Stalin and Udhayanidhi and DMK followers—you do not even know how India looks like. You will give away half of Kashmir to Pakistan! Unpatriotic fellows!”

Here’s a look at some reactions to the now-deleted DMK NRI Wing post featuring the incorrect map of India:

Udhayanidhi Stalin, Tamil Nadu’s Deputy Chief Minister, has faced significant backlash on X after he reiterated his comments regarding Sanatana Dharma, asserting his refusal to apologize. He referenced reformist leader Periyar EV Ramasamy and emphasized the Dravidian movement’s opposition to caste discrimination, stating that his remarks were in line with the principles upheld by the late DMK leader M. Karunanidhi and other figures of the Dravidian movement.

Regarding the various legal cases lodged against him, Udhayanidhi argued that they stemmed from misinterpretations of his statements. “I was asked to apologize in court. If I make a comment, that is it. I am facing the case in court. I am the grandson of Kalaignar (late Chief Minister Karunanidhi), I will not tender apology,” he said on October 21.
