Youth in Madhya Pradesh Dies from Burns After Phone Falls into Boiling Oil and Explodes

A young man lost his life in a tragic accident in Bhind, Madhya Pradesh, on Friday after his mobile phone fell into a pot of boiling oil while he was cooking. The phone’s battery exploded, causing severe burns. Unfortunately, he passed away on the way to the hospital.

Family Blames Ambulance Delay

Family members attributed his death to the delay in ambulance service. Initially, he was taken to the civil hospital in Lahar but was later referred to a facility in Gwalior for more advanced care. However, the ambulance faced a traffic jam on a narrow bridge over the Sindh River, which delayed their journey, resulting in his death en route.

Police Investigation

Following the incident, the Lahar Police Station registered a case based on a relative’s complaint. They cited “death due to mobile explosion” under Section 194 BNS. The victim, identified as Chandraprakash, leaves behind a wife, a 14-year-old daughter, and an 8-year-old son.

Circumstances of the Accident

Chandraprakash was reportedly preparing a meal in the kitchen while also checking his mobile phone. The device slipped from his hands into the hot oil, causing an explosion that resulted in severe burns from both the oil and the fire. His uncle expressed that had they reached the hospital in Gwalior on time, he might have survived.

Delays in Emergency Response

The ambulance transporting Chandraprakash was stopped due to heavy traffic on a small bridge near the Sindh River. Attempts to find an alternate route caused a detour, extending their journey by an additional 80 kilometers through Tharet, Indergarh, and Dabra, leading to a two-hour delay in reaching the Gwalior hospital. The police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
