Xpheno Declares Holiday to Celebrate India's T20 World Cup Victory

In a gesture of celebration and recognition, Xpheno, a leading specialist talent solutions firm based in Bengaluru, declared July 1st as a company-wide holiday to honor India’s triumph in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The decision comes following India’s thrilling victory over South Africa in the tournament’s final, marking India’s reclaiming of the trophy after 17 years.

The ICC T20 World Cup, co-hosted by the West Indies and the USA, concluded on June 29th with India emerging victorious by a narrow margin of 7 runs in a closely contested final. This win sparked jubilation not only among cricket fans but also among corporate leaders and tech giants who took to social media to express their excitement and congratulations.

“We were all pleasantly surprised by Team India’s remarkable performance throughout the tournament,” remarked Prasadh MS, Head of Workforce Research at Xpheno. “Despite the usual busyness of the first day of the month with billings and payroll closures, we unanimously decided to declare today as a holiday as our small tribute to the boys who brought home the glory.”

Tech CEOs such as Sundar Pichai of Google, Satya Nadella of Microsoft, and Vijay Shekhar Sharma of Paytm joined the chorus of praise. Sundar Pichai tweeted, “What a game, could barely breathe, everything that makes sports incredible. Congrats India, so well deserved!” Satya Nadella added, “What a final!!! Congrats, India, and well played, South Africa. Super World Cup… let us have more cricket in the West Indies and USA!!” Vijay Shekhar Sharma shared a video capturing Captain Rohit Sharma’s elation and praised Virat Kohli for ending his T20 international career on a high note.

The decision by Xpheno underscores the significance of sports in corporate culture and the spirit of unity and celebration it fosters among employees. As the country revels in this sporting triumph, initiatives like these reflect a shared pride and admiration for India’s achievements on the global stage.
