A video showing a woman being struck by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road has gone viral online. The incident, which occurred on Singapore’s Orchard Road, captures the woman being hit as she was distracted by her phone. Despite the car having a green light, the driver was unable to stop in time, and the vehicle struck her, pushing her several meters forward. The driver, visibly shaken, immediately got out to check on her as she sat up in shock after the collision. The woman was swiftly taken to the hospital, and authorities have launched an investigation, according to The Independent Singapore.

The incident has sparked a lively debate on social media, with many people criticizing the woman’s apparent lack of attention. Several commenters argued that pedestrians should be responsible for their own safety and avoid using mobile phones while crossing the street. One Reddit user commented, “Damn, actually a phone zombie.. first thing she did after sitting up was to try and get her phone back. Wishing her a speedy recovery and that hopefully she changes her phone zombie ways.”

Others showed little sympathy for the woman, with one saying, “She was on her phone when she crossed the road, when it was a green light for traffic and a red light for pedestrians. I don’t have any sympathy to be honest. I just feel bad for the driver. Lucky he had this on video.” Another commenter added, “Thank goodness for dash cams [sic].” Some attributed the incident to the combination of a distracted generation and alcohol, with one remarking, “The ‘social media heads down generation’ and drinking is not a good combination [sic].”
