The Indian television industry boasts a plethora of talented personalities, but have you ever wondered who among them is the wealthiest? Prepare for a surprise: the answer goes beyond the typical actors.

Who is the Richest TV Star?

Recent reports indicate that comedian Kapil Sharma has claimed the title of the richest TV star, surpassing other prominent names. Contrary to popular belief, it is not Rupali Ganguly, Tejasswi Prakash, or Karan Kundrra. Kapil reportedly earns ₹5 crore per episode for his show, The Great Indian Kapil Show, with an estimated net worth of ₹300 crore, according to MoneyControl.

He resides in a lavish ₹15 crore apartment in Andheri with his mother, wife Ginni Chatrath, and their two children. Notably, Kapil ranks among the top celebrity taxpayers for 2024, having paid ₹26 crore in taxes for FY24, as reported by Fortune India.

The report also highlighted that actor Sunil Grover, Kapil’s co-star, is earning well, with an income of ₹25 lakh per episode on The Great Indian Kapil Show.

About Kapil Sharma

Kapil’s journey began in 2007 when he won The Great Indian Laughter Challenge Season 3. He later hosted the successful reality show Comedy Nights with Kapil in 2013 and continued with The Kapil Sharma Show from 2016 to 2023, solidifying his position in the industry.

Known for his comedic skills, Kapil has also faced controversies throughout his career. His social media activity once sparked division when he tagged Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official handle to voice concerns about corruption. Additionally, he had public disputes with fellow comedian Sunil Grover and faced accusations of inappropriate behavior with guests like Monali Thakur and Tanishaa Mukerji at the IIFM (International Marathi Film Festival) Awards in 2015.
