Victoria Starmer, affectionately known as Lady Victoria or Lady Vic among friends, is the wife of Keir Starmer, the incoming Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. Born to a Polish-Jewish father and a mother who converted to Judaism, Victoria grew up in Gospel Oak, North London. Her family observes the Jewish tradition of Friday night dinners and attends the Liberal Jewish Synagogue in St John’s Wood.
Victoria is a trained solicitor, much like her husband. She met Keir Starmer in the early 2000s while he was working as a barrister at Doughty Street Chambers. Their first encounter was during an awkward phone call related to a court case. Despite the rocky start, Keir asked her out, and they married in 2007. Currently, Victoria works in occupational health for the NHS, providing her with a deep understanding of the healthcare system’s frontline challenges.
Victoria keeps a low public profile, primarily to protect their children. The couple has two children, a 15-year-old son and a 13-year-old daughter. Victoria avoids the public eye and has never given interviews, preferring to maintain her privacy. Keir Starmer has mentioned that she has her own life and career, which she intends to continue even with her husband’s political responsibilities.
With Keir Starmer’s new role as Prime Minister, the Starmer family will move from their £1.75 million townhouse in Kentish Town to the official residence at 10 Downing Street in Westminster, London.
