What Happens if Trump Loses 2024? Roles for Musk, Gabbard, Kennedy?

In a recent interview, Donald Trump ruled out running for president in 2028 if he loses the 2024 election. He also hinted at potential roles for Elon Musk, Tulsi Gabbard, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in his administration, praising their expertise in cost-cutting, foreign policy, and health and environmental issues.

In a Sunday interview on “Full Measure” with Sharyl Attkisson, former US President Donald Trump said he does not plan to run for president again in 2028 if he loses this year’s election. When asked if he saw himself running in four years, Trump responded, “No, I don’t. I don’t see that at all,” while expressing hope for success in the current race.

As the presidential election nears, Trump faces stiff competition, with polls showing Vice President Kamala Harris leading in most head-to-head surveys. Though Trump previously held a strong lead over President Joe Biden, his campaign faltered after a poor debate performance. The race remains close, particularly in critical battleground states.

When asked about possible roles for figures like tech billionaire Elon Musk, former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, and former independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. in his administration, Trump said it was too early to make any deals. However, he shared his vision for potential positions.

Trump said Kennedy, who ended his independent campaign to support Trump, could excel in health and environmental roles, citing his focus on reducing chemical usage and improving public health. He praised Gabbard, a military veteran and former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, as a “common sense person” who could work on foreign policy. Gabbard, who ran for president as a Democrat in 2020, has since endorsed Trump and expressed interest in serving under his administration.

Trump also highlighted Musk’s ability to cut government costs, describing him as a “big cost-cutter” who would be effective at eliminating wasteful spending. Musk has also expressed support for Trump’s idea of a “government efficiency commission.”

Both Gabbard and Kennedy have been appointed to Trump’s transition team, which would help shape policies and personnel if he wins the White House in November.
