At an age of 57, Venkata Krishna, the software consultant, was a vegetarian. He hadn’t ever faced any severe illness in his lifetime, but, one day, his close friend died suddenly. His close friend was a practicing guy for fitness, and the sudden death shocked Venkata to the core. It proved to be the turning point for Venkata and motivated him to start taking care of his body once again. So, here’s the inspiring weight loss journey in the life of an individual who could easily prove that it is never too late, even if diabetes manages and with hectic professional approach of working life.

Weight Loss and Health History

In the year 2008, Venkata had his weight at 89 kgs, which would cause great health hazards such as sleep apnea. He was determined to flip things around so he started exercising very vigorously. Then, Venkata lost all the weight and weighed 69 kgs. Like so many others, however, Venkata’s weight crept up again as he quit the strict program, and in 2017, weighed in at 78 kgs, starting up with old health issues. This time, it was a diagnosis of diabetes. On tablets and healthy eating, he said controlling his blood sugar became problematic; his HbA1c shot up to 11.8. He attributed this deterioration to having become inactive and inconsistent with medication.

The Wake-Up Call

Nine months ago, something snapped when his close friend who looked fit suddenly died. The turn of events sounded him to be a grim reminder that health should not be taken lightly. Of course, this was enough motivation for Venkata to take such extreme measures for himself to reclaim control of his health.

Looking for Professional Help and Changes in Lifestyle

His diet was completely changed and scheduled in with proper time input by a health coach program, which gave him practical tips on managing his diabetes. One important change for him was regular physical activity. He started walking after every meal and also did strength training to make it a continuous process and reach his fitness objectives.

Changes in Diet and Approach towards Food

Diet also played a major role in the change. He revamped his food so that it had more fiber and protein content, and most importantly, millets were incorporated into lunch. Millets have been extolled for their low glycemic index as well as incredible benefits when taken as part of our daily diet. Another critical adjustment was to have an early dinner that balanced out his blood glucose level. Due to all these adjustments, Venkata’s weight as well as his medication dosage both came down. He reduced his levels of diabetes drugs to 500 mg from 2000 mg a day and he will continue on this reduction plan.

Knowing the Body and Health

He became interested in studying the body and how nutrition and exercise have positive impacts on health in general. He subscribed to various YouTubers, health and fitness experts, on YouTube, and got the science behind good health.

This was enough motivation to keep him on track.
