We are planning to bring a new law for doctors’ safety: MP Manoj Tiwari

BJP MP Manoj Tiwari announced that the government is planning to bring a law for doctors’ safety at the inauguration event of the dedicated Aorta Centre for the diagnosis and treatment of aortic diseases at Fortis Escorts Heart Institute Okhla.

“We are planning to bring a new law for doctors’ safety and for that, we need your (Doctors at the event) support”, said BJP MP Manoj Tiwari.

The safety of medical professionals has become a major concern after the rape and murder case of a junior resident doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.

Fortis Escorts Heart Institute Launches Advanced Aorta Centre

The Centre will offer a full spectrum of care, including surgical interventions, endovascular interventions, radiological diagnosis, and facilities for hybrid interventions, which is the first center of its kind in India

The Centre will operate seven days a week and will have dedicated OPD clinics on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays afternoons.

Anil Vinayak, Group Chief Operating Officer, Fortis Healthcare said, “In India, roughly 300,000 to 400,000 individuals experience various types of aortic disorders each year, yet only about 1,000 receive personalized treatment. Early diagnosis is crucial, with a success rate exceeding 95% if diagnosed in time. We at Fortis are committed to leading in medical innovation and healthcare excellence, building on our pioneering legacy in cardiac care. Our new Aorta Centre is designed to meet the needs of patients across all age groups, reflecting our dedication to advancing clinical practice and nurturing future medical talent”

Dr Shiv Choudhary, Director, Aorta Centre, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, Okhla said, “Aortic ailments are now impacting both the young and the elderly. Lifestyle diseases including high blood pressure and atherosclerosis are responsible for over 75% of aortic aneurysms and dissections. Genetic predisposition is another significant contributor. Though aortic diseases carry very high morbidity and mortality, early diagnosis and prompt comprehensive treatment give rewarding results. In response to this need, we are proud to launch the Aorta Centre, one of India’s most comprehensive facilities dedicated to aortic care.”

Aortic disease refers to a group of medical conditions that specifically affect the aorta. The aorta is the largest artery in the human body that originates from the top of the heart. It is the main artery that carries blood from the heart through the aortic valve and connects with other arteries to deliver oxygenated blood to the brain, liver, intestines, kidney, and all other organs of the body. Aortic diseases can be congenital, genetic, or acquired later in life. If left untreated, Aortic diseases can pose a severe threat to the patient’s life. Some of the most common types of aortic disease include aortic aneurysm, aortic dissection, and obstructive lesions of the aorta.
