Delhi Water Minister Atishi has raised concerns about fewer water tankers being provided by the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) without her approval. She has asked Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena to investigate the alleged involvement of the chief secretary and DJB’s CEO with a tanker mafia. Atishi suggested suspending these officials during the investigation to avoid interference.
As Delhi faces this ongoing water crisis, residents are enduring long waits and struggles for water, underscoring the urgent need for effective solutions. She also asked the LG to assign a senior police officer to patrol the Munak Canal to stop illegal water collection by private tankers. Additionally, Atishi wants more district and subdivisional magistrates to check for and fix leaks in the water pipelines.
