Indore, under the stewardship of the Madhya Pradesh government, has secured a remarkable global achievement by setting a new world record for planting the highest number of trees within a span of just 24 hours. The city successfully planted an astounding 5.1 million trees within its urban boundaries and an additional 1.1 million trees at Revati Range. This ambitious endeavor, spearheaded by Madhya Pradesh’s Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, surpasses the previous record held by Assam.

The initiative is part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s broader vision to plant 1.4 billion trees across India. Minister Vijayvargiya highlighted this commitment, noting that Indore will continue to plant 5.1 million trees annually over the next five years. This concerted effort aims to transform Indore into a green oasis, with plans in place for rigorous monitoring and swift replacement of any trees that do not survive the initial planting phase.

The world record achievement underscores Indore’s dedication to environmental conservation and sustainable urban development, setting a precedent for other cities globally. This monumental feat not only enhances the city’s green cover but also contributes significantly to mitigating climate change and improving the quality of life for its residents.
