Logan Martin shared the news via Instagram on Wednesday, posting videos that revealed the extent of the damage. The footage showed police officers investigating the scene and Martin’s shattered vehicle. “Our van was broken into last night,” Martin reported. “Fortunately, my bikes were not in the van, but some of my bike bags with personal items were taken.”
The theft resulted in the loss of Martin’s wallet, backpack, and other belongings. Despite the troubling situation, Martin expressed his resilience and shared that the overall impact wasn’t as severe as it could have been. “It’s unfortunate when people resort to such actions,” he wrote, alongside videos showing stolen bags that were later recovered near a bench, identified thanks to their tags.
The incident occurred while the Australian BMX team was at a training camp in Brussels in preparation for their upcoming competitions in Paris. Martin, who clinched gold in Tokyo, emphasized the impact of the theft on what was meant to be a focused and positive lead-up to his title defense.
