A video showing a Tamil Nadu teacher’s harsh treatment of his football team has gone viral, leaving viewers shocked. The clip captures the coach kicking and slapping the players, sparking widespread outrage and demands for strict action against him.

In the video, the football team members are seated on the ground as the teacher talks to one of the players at the end of the line. Suddenly, he slaps the student. As he continues interacting with others, he slaps, kicks, and even pulls the hair of some players, who try to protect themselves from the assault. Despite the violence, the surrounding crowd merely watches without intervening.

At one point, the teacher, apparently addressing the goalkeeper, asks, “Are you a man or a woman? How can you let him score?” He questions another player, “How did you let the ball get past you? Can’t you play under pressure?” While attacking another student, he asks, “Why was there no communication?”

According to the sources, the incident took place at a government-aided school near Mettur in Tamil Nadu’s Salem district. The teacher involved, identified as Annamalai, is accused of assaulting his students.

Social media users reacted with outrage, demanding strict punishment. One user on X commented, “Should be behind bars.” Another noted, “Unfortunately, this is not an isolated incident. I still see youth coaches lambasting their players after defeats or poor performances. Even when I used to play for my school team, my coach used to humiliate us after losing a tournament. Sad to still see this.”

A senior officer from the district education department told the sources, “We have suspended the teacher and will conduct a thorough inquiry.”
