Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticized the Congress-led Opposition on Tuesday for their reaction to the recent Lok Sabha election results. He accused Congress and its allies of misleading the public by suggesting they had defeated the ruling party. The PM’s remarks came as he responded to the Motion of Thanks for the President.

Drawing a parallel with the character ‘Mausiji’ from the Bollywood movie ‘Sholay’, Modi mocked Congress for treating their election performance as a moral victory despite losing. “They’ve lost three times, but they claim it’s a moral victory,” he remarked.

“The remarks by Congress leaders have outdone the dialogues from the film Sholay. You all must remember the ‘Mausi’ from the film… (PM enacts to take a jibe at Congress),” PM Modi said.

In his address to the Lok Sabha, Modi emphasized that the electorate’s mandate placed Congress in the Opposition, noting the party’s failure to secure more than 100 seats in three consecutive elections. “People’s mandate for Congress is to sit where it is, in Opposition,” he stated.

He further advised Congress to respect the electorate’s decision instead of celebrating what he termed a “fake victory.” Modi concluded by reiterating that Congress and its ecosystem are attempting to create a false narrative of having defeated the ruling party.
