Gusty winds and heavy rainfall battered various regions across Odisha and West Bengal as Cyclone Dana made landfall in Odisha, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Videos and photos capturing the storm’s impact have circulated widely on social media, showing intense tidal surges along with severe damage to local infrastructure. One particularly striking video, shared by ANI, depicts high waves crashing onto West Bengal’s Old Digha beach, where the tides reach unusually high levels and strike the coastline with immense force.

IMD Issues Updates and Alerts

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has been closely tracking Cyclone Dana’s path, issuing timely updates through social media. According to an earlier statement, the IMD reported, “The severe cyclonic storm ‘Dana’ moved north-northwestwards with a speed of 12 kmph and lay centred over north coastal Odisha, about 15 km north of Dhamara.” The department added that the cyclone is expected to shift west-northwest, gradually weakening into a cyclonic storm by midday on October 25, under the continuous watch of the Doppler weather radar at Paradip.
