A new trend has emerged on social media, capturing couples engaging in public displays of affection on moving vehicles, raising significant concerns about road safety. The latest incident from Lucknow has gone viral, showing a couple kissing and getting cosy on the sunroof of a moving car. The video, shared on the social media platform X, has sparked a heated debate, with many condemning the act as “obscene” and calling for police intervention.

WATCH THE VIDEO:

The caption accompanying the video read, “Lucknow: The city of culture and etiquette is getting a bad name these days in areas like Gomti Nagar. After the riots, the obscenity of the lovers came to the fore; from 1090 square to Chief Minister square, they kept doing obscene acts fearlessly, police were absent, and lovemaking was happening on the roof of car number UP 78 GB 0130.”

In response to the viral post, Lucknow Police assured the public that an investigation is underway and necessary actions will be taken.

While some have criticised the couple for their reckless and dangerous behaviour, others have defended them. One user commented, “There is nothing wrong in this, change your mindset.” Another user argued, “It is not them but you or the person who clicked this video who is obscene. Live and let live. There are other real problems in the country. Pay attention to them and stop all this time pass.”

This incident is not isolated. In October 2023, a similar case occurred in Hyderabad, where a young couple was seen kissing while sitting on top of a sunroof on the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) oversees this area.

Social media users remain divided over these incidents, with some criticising the couples for their actions, while others argue that the real issue lies with those invading their privacy. They contend that the primary offense was the couple’s dangerous act of poking their heads out of the sunroof, rather than the public display of affection itself.

As this trend continues to gain attention, the debate over road safety and public decency intensifies, highlighting the need for a balanced perspective and responsible behaviour on the roads.
