Amritpal Singh, the leader of ‘Waris Punjab De’ and a prominent figure in the pro-Khalistan movement, is poised to become a Member of Parliament (MP) for Khadoor Sahib constituency in Delhi. He has taken oath on 5th June follows his electoral victory in the recent Lok Sabha elections, where he secured a substantial lead of 1,97,120 votes over Congress candidate Kulbir Singh Zira.
After meeting Singh’s parents, Jathedar of Takht Damdama Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh said using NSA to stop people from speaking their minds is wrong. He asked why slogans supporting a ‘Hindu Rashtra’ are praised in Parliament, but Sikh ideas like a ‘Sikh Rashtra’ are punished.
