Michee Jules, 34, and his wife Maya, 33, were celebrating Michee’s birthday during their trip to Quebec in February when they encountered these majestic creatures.
Originally from New Jersey, the couple enjoyed their tranquil time in the wilderness when the unexpected visit from the wolves occurred. Despite being informed about the wolf population in the area, they were taken aback by the sight of a pack gathering near their secluded cabin. Michee, a professional photographer, described the moment as “joyful,” sharing his excitement with the New York Post. “It was a joyful experience to witness these animals up close. I have a deep love for animals, and my passion lies in capturing moments of them interacting in their natural environment.”

Throughout their week-long stay, the couple observed the wolves regularly, marveling at their proximity to the cabin. Michee expressed his disbelief at their frequent visits, stating, “I couldn’t believe we were lucky enough to see the wolves so close up and so often.” Remarkably, Michee felt no fear despite being in the presence of wild animals. “When I opened the door to the wolves, I was very surprised by their calm reaction. I still kept my distance, but I wasn’t bothered nor did I feel threatened.”
The encounter was so remarkable for Michee that he expressed a strong desire to return to Canada for another chance to experience such wildlife up close. “I’d definitely go back to Canada again just for this experience alone,” he said.
Canada is renowned for its robust wolf population, ranking second in the world only to Russia. The International Fund for Animal Welfare estimates that the country is home to over 50,000 grey wolves, with various species occupying around 90 percent of their historic range within Canada. This makes Canada a sanctuary for these magnificent predators, offering unique opportunities for wildlife enthusiasts and photographers alike.
