A disturbing video has surfaced from Andhra Pradesh, showing a man being brutally assaulted, allegedly for criticizing former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on social media. The incident took place in the Hindupur area of Anantapur district and has sparked serious concerns about political intolerance and violence.
The victim, identified as Mohan, had posted a provocative video on Facebook challenging Jagan Reddy to contest and win the 2029 elections. In his video, Mohan declared, “Jagan Mohan Reddy, today, I, via Facebook would like to challenge you. If you have the guts, see if you can win in 2029. As a man with moustache, I am telling you, if you have courage, win and come in 2029.” He ended the clip by saying, “Come, come. Let’s us see.”

The next day, Mohan was attacked inside Hindupur’s Lakshmi Bar by two unidentified men. The shocking video of the assault shows the assailants breaking a beer bottle on his head and repeatedly hitting him, while shouting, “Speaking like this about Jagan?” and using offensive language. Mohan appears to defend himself, but the attackers overpower him quickly.
Despite the circulation of the assault video online, no police action has been reported yet. The incident has raised questions about law enforcement response and freedom of speech in the region.
This attack comes just days after members of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were arrested for allegedly making objectionable comments about YS Bharathi Reddy, wife of Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy served as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh from 2019 to 2024. As the state moves toward the next electoral cycle, incidents like these highlight the escalating political tensions on the ground.
