On Partition Horrors Remembrance Day (14 August), Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath drew parallels between the Bangladesh crisis and the events of 1947. He stated, “We are witnessing scenes reminiscent of 1947 in Bangladesh today.”

He highlighted the plight of 1.5 crore Hindus in Bangladesh, asserting, “They are crying out for help, yet the world remains silent. So-called secularists in India are also keeping quiet, fearing a loss of their vote bank.”
Adityanath praised the courage of Chittagong Hindus, who he said had bravely raised their voices. He emphasized that religious extremism can only be addressed through unity, asserting that global safety hinges on India’s stability.
The Chief Minister criticized the Opposition for prioritizing vote bank politics over humanitarian concerns. He accused them of fostering separatist agendas and claimed they governed with a colonial mentality inherited from the British.
Quoting Sri Aurobindo, Adityanath said, “Pakistan is not a reality in the spiritual world. It will either merge with India or disappear from history forever.”
He blamed the Congress leadership for the partition tragedy and questioned why the ‘Hindu-majority’ region of Sindh was allowed to merge with Pakistan. Additionally, Adityanath accused Congress of attempting to undermine democracy during the 1975 Emergency and of creating divisions between Hindus and Sikhs.
