The fervor of India’s historic T20 World Cup victory was vividly revived at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium as Rohit Sharma’s triumphant team was honored in a spectacular ceremony. Echoes of national pride resounded as over 30,000 enthusiastic fans gathered, reminiscent of the iconic 2011 World Cup scenes, to celebrate achievement of Team India.

The players, parading the coveted trophy through Mumbai’s jubilant streets earlier in the day, were greeted by a roaring crowd upon their arrival at Wankhede. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) awarded the Team India a prize of Rs 125 crore during the ceremony. Amidst cheers and chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’, the atmosphere was electric as Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya led the team in singing the national anthem before retiring to the dressing room.

The victory parade caused massive traffic congestion in South Mumbai, with crowds converging on Marine Drive to catch a glimpse of their cricketing heroes. Train stations overflowed with supporters waving the Tricolor and sporting India’s blue jerseys, underscoring the nation’s pride in reclaiming T20 cricket’s prestigious trophy after more than a decade.

As Mumbai paused to celebrate, the event marked not only a sporting triumph but also a unifying moment of national pride and celebration.
