A retired Petty Officer from the Indian Navy’s MARCOS unit, DS Negi, became an internet sensation after heroically rescuing a drowning man. A viral video captured his swift and courageous act, highlighting his dedication to service even after retirement. The incident deeply moved the rescued man’s father, who expressed immense gratitude towards Negi.

Navy veteran Manan Bhatt shared the story on social media, emphasizing that Negi’s bravery transcends his profession and age. Bhatt’s post read, “Negi’s act of courage extended beyond the rescued man.

It serves as a powerful reminder to society that age and profession are not barriers to service and valour. His selfless act inspires us all to be ready to lend a helping hand whenever needed, regardless of the circumstances.”

In the accompanying video, the rescued man is seen being carried to a rickshaw for transport to the hospital. Onlookers applauded when it was revealed that DS Negi was a former MARCOS officer. The victim’s father, visibly moved, showed his gratitude with folded hands.
