Uttar Pradesh Minister Defends Kanwar Yatra Nameplate Directive, Citing UPA Origins

Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Om Prakash Rajbar clarified on Monday that the mandate for nameplates on eateries along the Kanwar Yatra route was established by the UPA government in 2006. He asserted that neither the BJP nor the NDA governments have introduced new legislation regarding this matter.

Rajbar stated that the current administration is merely completing tasks left unfinished by previous governments. He pointed out the benefits of various schemes, such as the Rs 5 lakh aid under the Ayushman card and improvements under the Swachh Bharat mission, which have positively affected the state. He criticized opposition parties for focusing on protests rather than recognizing these improvements.

In related news, BJP MP Arun Govil supported the Uttar Pradesh government’s directive for food shops along the Kanwar route to display owners’ names. He argued that consumers have the right to know where their food is coming from, dismissing claims of religious discrimination from opposition parties.

The Uttar Pradesh government issued this directive on July 20, requiring food shops on the Kanwar route to display their owners’ names. This move has faced criticism from opposition parties.
