Uttar Pradesh: Man Kills Wife In Brutal Assault, Inserts Rolling Pin Into Her Body

In a harrowing incident in Etawah district, Uttar Pradesh, a 28-year-old woman, Reshma, died following a brutal assault by her husband, Surjeet, on Monday. The disturbing case has shocked the community and drawn attention to severe domestic abuse.

According to reports, Surjeet, who was heavily intoxicated, attacked Reshma with a wooden stick and tied her legs with a rope. In a particularly egregious act, he also inserted a rolling pin into her private parts. The severity of the assault was confirmed by a postmortem examination, which revealed the rolling pin lodged in her abdomen and multiple injuries on her body.

Initially, the police filed a case of culpable homicide. However, following the postmortem findings, the charges have been upgraded to murder. The Firozabad Superintendent of Police, Sarvesh Kumar Mishra, confirmed that Reshma’s brother had filed a complaint against Surjeet and his accomplices. Surjeet has been arrested and is currently in custody.

Reshma and Surjeet had been married for a decade, and their relationship had been strained due to Surjeet’s alcoholism. This tragic incident is part of a troubling pattern of domestic violence in the region. Earlier this year, another woman was allegedly beaten to death by her in-laws over dowry demands, and a separate case involved a man killing his sick wife over household chores.

The case highlights the urgent need for increased efforts to combat domestic violence and provide support for victims in distressing situations.
