Following a tip-off from US authorities, the Mumbai Police have begun extradition proceedings for Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, who is linked to a shooting incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai. Anmol, 25, is implicated in several high-profile cases allegedly orchestrated under his elder brother’s direction.
Last month, the Mumbai Police sought permission from a special court to start the extradition process, informing the court of their intention to bring Anmol back to India to face charges, particularly in connection with the Salman Khan case. Anmol is also under investigation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA), which recently placed a ₹10 lakh bounty on him for his alleged involvement in various criminal activities. He is reportedly living in Canada and frequently traveling to the US.
Anmol is also suspected of involvement in the October 12 murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique in Mumbai’s Bandra area. A Mumbai court recently denied bail to one of the accused in the Salman Khan firing incident, noting the act was committed with intent to kill, allegedly at Anmol’s instigation. Both Anmol and Lawrence Bishnoi are from Fazilka, Punjab, and are wanted in multiple cases.
