On the occasion of his birthday, Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, offered prayers on Monday at the Goraknath temple in this city.
Rajanth Singh, the defence minister for the union, too wished CM Yogi a happy birthday. “Happy birthday to @myogiadityanath ji, the well-liked chief minister of Uttar Pradesh. He is striving tirelessly to transform Uttar Pradesh into a developed state. He has already prepared his land there. May God grant him long life and good health,” he tweeted. CM Yogi was born on June 5, 1972, in a village in Uttarakhand. He left the home to join the movement for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya and became a disciple of Mahant Avaidyanath of Gorakhnath temple in Gorakhpur.
He also became the head priest of the Gorakhnath Math after the death of Mahant Avaidyanath. Yogi began his political career in 1998, when he was elected as Gorakhpur’s youngest member of parliament. From 1998 to 2017, he served as the MP for Gorakhpur for five consecutive terms.
Following the completion of his entire five-year tenure earlier this year, he assumed control of the most populous state for a second time in a row—a feat duplicated after 37 years.
