Washington: Donald Trump has hinted at the possibility of seeking a third presidential term, stating during a Sunday interview with NBC News that he is “not joking” about it.

“I’m Not Joking,” Says Trump

When asked about his intentions, Trump said, “No, I’m not joking. I’m not joking,” but clarified that it was “far too early to think about it.” He added, “There are methods which you could do it,” without elaborating on what those methods might be.

Third Term Barred by U.S. Constitution

According to the 22nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, presidents are limited to two four-year terms, whether consecutive or not. Trump, who took office on January 20 for his second, non-consecutive term, is constitutionally barred from running for a third term.

Vague Allusions in the Past

Trump has previously hinted at extending his presidency beyond the two-term limit but had not addressed it as directly as he did during the recent interview.

As of now, Trump’s remarks remain speculative, but they continue to stir debate over the limits of presidential power in the United States.
