Having substantial wealth often allows individuals to travel to foreign destinations for the most trivial reasons. Imagine flying to another country just to satisfy a food craving! That’s precisely what a couple recently did. According to a Daily Star report, a UK couple booked a flight to Milan simply because they wanted sandwiches. Instead of traveling from their home to London, they found it cheaper to go to Italy for this purpose.
Sharon Summer, 49, decided to travel abroad specifically to enjoy sandwiches with her partner, Dan Puddifoot. Initially planning to have breakfast together, they discovered that a ticket from Cranfield in Bedfordshire to London cost between Rs 3700 and 4800, taking about an hour and a half. Instead, they opted to fly to Milan, Italy, where they found a flight for just Rs 1500. They spent the day exploring Milan, enjoying sandwiches, and returned home by nightfall. The entire trip cost them only Rs 10,000.
“It was a gorgeous day with amazing weather. We ascended the Duomo di Milano and enjoyed lunch at The Dome restaurant. I savoured a unique pink lemonade garnished with marshmallows. We wandered around and ended up walking 20,000 steps,” Sharon said. Taking a day trip to a European city was on Sharon’s list of 50 things she wants to do before turning 50 next month.
Many Britons have shared similar stories of traveling to Italy on a budget. One user on X mentioned reaching Milan for just Rs 2802, spending the day visiting sites, enjoying a spa, and savoring famous Italian cuisine.
