Early Wednesday, two rockets landed near U.S. forces stationed at Camp Victory, located near Baghdad airport. According to security sources, the incident caused material damage but no casualties have been reported so far.

U.S. Embassy Yet to Respond

The U.S. embassy in Baghdad has not yet responded to requests for comments regarding the attack. The rockets fell close to Camp Victory, where U.S. forces are based, raising concerns about the security situation.

Kataib Hezbollah’s Response

Iraq’s Iran-backed armed group, Kataib Hezbollah, has condemned the attack. The group suggested that the rockets were intended to disrupt the visit of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, who is scheduled to arrive in Baghdad on Wednesday morning. In a public statement, Kataib Hezbollah urged Iraqi security forces to thoroughly investigate the incident and determine who was responsible.

Ongoing Tensions in Iraq

Tensions remain high in Iraq, where U.S. military forces continue to be stationed. Attacks on U.S. bases have occurred periodically, often attributed to militia groups with ties to Iran. While no group has yet claimed responsibility for this attack, investigations are underway.
