Haryana government and the newly elected sarpanches are at loggerheads over the issue of launching new E-tendering system in Gram Panchayats. The state government is on toes in a bid to convince Sarpanches for this initiative stating that E-tendering is most likely to bring transparency and ensure the speedy completion of developmental projects in the villages.
Even, the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar continues to make the sarpanches understand the benefits of the scheme in a positive way, but contrary to this, the Panchayat Minister Devender Singh Babli’s objectionable and controversial comments used for the BJP-JJP leaders as well as the Sarpanches led to increasing trouble for the government. In this series, a meeting held among both factions here on Monday pertaining to the matter ended undecided. Following the proceedings of the meetings, a delegation of the Sarpanches were reported upset with the behavior as well as the objectionable language used earlier by the minister for them which is a matter of serious concern.
In a reaction the aforementioned scheme, the village heads have been opposing the scheme announced by the BJP-JJP led state government which lays down that the Sarpanches can get developmental words up to Rs 2 lakh done at their own level and works involving an expenditure over Rs 2 lakh the tendering will have to be done through the portal of Haryana engineering works. In wake of the seriousness of the matter, JJP Supremo Ajay Singh Chautala and the BJP state president OP Dhankhar had advised the minister Babli not to use objectionable and irresponsible language for the Sarpanches few days ago and in a reaction to this, he said here on Monday that instead of interfering in the working of the government, Ajay Chautala and OP Dhankhar are required to take care of the organizational set up of the parties. Further he added that we are the elected representatives and pretty efficient to run the government as well as sort out the issues.
Contrary to this, be it assembly or any meeting, the Chief Minister has kept a positive and balanced approach unlikely the minister towards the matter. Thus, Babli’ new comments courted a controversy again that whether he is enough mature and senior leader to advise OP Dhankhar and Ajay Chautala, the BJP and the JJP bigwigs respectively. Now it has to be seen to what extent Panchayat Minister’s advice to Dhankhar and Ajay is appropriate. Political experts are of the opinion that it is evident from the ongoing scenario that he needs to be reprimanded or advised by the party high command. Due to his statements, both BJP and JJP are facing problems. The way the front has been opened against the veterans of the party, somewhere, both the parties may be forced to take tough steps against the concerned minister.
