Former President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he will participate in a Tele-Town Hall event hosted by Fox News in September. Trump revealed his plans via Truth Social, stating, “Rather than the debate on September 4th, I have agreed to do a Tele-Town Hall, anchored by Sean Hannity, for Fox. It will take place in the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania – Details to follow!”
Trump’s decision comes in the wake of US Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign confirming that she will not take part in the debate hosted by Fox News, a broadcaster often viewed as favoring the Republican Party. Trump expressed his lack of surprise, suggesting it would be challenging for Harris to “defend her record setting Flip-Flopping on absolutely everything she once believed in.”
Harris’ campaign announced that she would participate in two presidential debates, while Tim Walz, her running mate, would take part in one vice presidential debate. The first presidential debate is scheduled for September 10 and will be hosted by ABC News. The second debate is set for October, with the exact date yet to be confirmed.
In addition, Trump’s running mate, Republican Ohio Senator JD Vance, is scheduled to face off against Minnesota Governor Tim Walz on October 1. Trump has previously agreed to participate in two debates, including the one originally slated for Fox News and another hosted by NBC News on September 25.
Trump had previously debated President Joe Biden in June, but Biden withdrew from further debates due to what was described as a disastrous performance, making way for Kamala Harris.
