Donald Trump, the leading contender for the Republican presidential nomination, reportedly informed members of his party that Nancy Pelosi’s daughter suggested they would make a good match, a remark that immediately provoked her family’s displeasure.
“Nancy Pelosi’s daughter is a whacko,” Trump allegedly remarked on Capitol Hill while addressing House Republicans. “Her daughter told me if things were different Nancy and I would be perfect together.”
He also noted the age gap between them, with Pelosi being only seven years older than him. Trump, in contrast, is 23 years older than his wife Melania.
Christine Pelosi, one of Pelosi’s daughters, swiftly refuted Trump’s claim, tweeting, “Speaking for all 4 Pelosi daughters — this is a LIE.” She criticized Trump’s fixation on her mother, labeling him as “unwell, unhinged, and unfit” for any proximity to Pelosi or the White House.
Pelosi’s spokesperson echoed this sentiment, responding to Trump’s statement with, “This man is not well.”
Trump and Pelosi, who clashed during his presidency while she served as House Speaker, have a well-documented history of discord.
The former president’s visit to Capitol Hill on Thursday, his first since the January 6 Capitol riot, included closed-door meetings with House and Senate GOP lawmakers.
Pelosi had criticized Trump’s return, characterizing January 6th as a grievous assault on the Capitol and an attempt to subvert the peaceful transfer of power.
Social media users swiftly reacted to Trump’s comments, with some humorously commenting on the age difference and speculating about Trump’s feelings towards Pelosi during his time in office
