In a startling incident of reckless driving in Delhi, a car jumped a red signal and struck two traffic policemen, leaving them clinging to the vehicle’s bonnet as it sped off. The alarming event unfolded in the Ber Sarai area around 7:30 PM on a busy evening.
The Incident
The chaos began when Assistant Sub-Inspector Pramod and Head Constable Shailesh Chauhan were conducting vehicle checks near Ber Sarai market. They noticed a Maruti Suzuki Fronx disregarding the traffic signal and attempted to flag it down. However, instead of stopping, the driver suddenly accelerated, sweeping the officers off their feet.

The policemen, in a desperate attempt to regain control, clung to the car’s bonnet as it swerved and took a U-turn, driving for approximately 20 meters with the officers hanging on. Witnesses recorded the shocking scene, which captured the dramatic and dangerous situation.
Immediate Aftermath
The vehicle finally came to a halt after a short distance, and both officers were promptly taken to Safdarjung Hospital for treatment. Their injuries were assessed as serious but not life-threatening.
Legal Action and Investigation
Following the incident, the police have registered a case against the driver under multiple charges, including attempted murder and obstructing a public servant in the line of duty. Additional violations of the Motor Vehicles Act are also being considered. The car is registered to a resident of Vasant Kunj named Jai Bhagwan, and authorities are currently conducting a thorough investigation to gather more details.
