Tis Hazari Court has decided to extend the judicial custody of Bibhav Kumar, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s aide, until July 6.
Kumar is accused of assaulting AAP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on May 13 at the chief minister’s official residence. The decision to extend his custody was made during a hearing conducted through video conferencing before Metropolitan Magistrate Gaurav Goyal.
Kumar was arrested on May 18 and initially placed in police custody for five days. Despite his anticipatory bail plea becoming infructuous due to his arrest, he was remanded in custody following a magisterial court’s ruling.
Subsequently, on May 24, he was transferred to judicial custody for four days before being returned to police custody for an additional three days. An FIR was filed against Kumar on May 16, citing various sections of the Indian Penal Code related to criminal intimidation, assault, and attempt to commit culpable homicide.
